Wasco FFA put on their 2nd annual Charles Craig Classic this past weekend. This was a three-day show starting September 10th through September 12th. This show allows FFA and 4H members that will be showing livestock at the Kern County Fair in a few weeks to get a feel of expectations as well as what they will be judged on when they attend. Schools around our county attended this experience hosted by Wasco Ag Boosters and the Wasco FFA Chapter. The schools represented were Taft High School, Wasco High School, Shafter High School, and Delano High School.
Wasco FFA officers, advisors, parents, and community supporters worked diligently to host this event. We are also grateful for this year's sponsors and judges without them this event could have not happened or have been as successful. We thank Natalia Crane for performing the national anthem all three days of The Charles Craig Classic show and our Miss Wasco Rose Queen - Ixchel Sanchez- for conducting opening ceremonies.
The Charles Craig Classic is named after the late Dr. Charles Criag who served as an Agriculture Teacher at Wasco High School for many years. During his time in service to the district, Mr. Craig overcame many obstacles that would have otherwise prevented students from experiencing hands-on learning. In his memory, we continue to work for positive hands-on opportunities for the students at Wasco High and the North Kern area.
