FFA members and guests from the South Valley Section enthusiastically gathered on January 22nd of 2022 at Wasco Union High School. On this day, the Wasco FFA chapter hosted both Job Interview and Prepared Public Speaking competitions. The FFA Job Interview Event is designed to help FFA members learn, practice, and display skills necessary to find employment in the agricultural business. Prepared public speaking participants were given the task of writing and delivering a six- to eight-minute speech on a relevant agriculture-related topic. These members researched the topic of interest before delivering an innovative and insightful speech. The morning was filled with lively conversations accompanied by the coffee and doughnuts that the Wasco FFA chapter offered to those who attended. The competitions began and members who were competing were aiming for success. After the initial round of the competitions was over, Wasco FFA provided lunch for guests and members. A short period after the lunch interval competing finalist members were announced and escorted to compete for one last round. After judges were

done with deciding placings and scorings, they arrived at the cafeteria. Placings then were announced and the cafeteria was overflowed with applauses and “congratulations”. Three members from Wasco FFA placed: Jalie Grundt who earned 3rd place for Prepared Public Speaking, Henry Marin Acosta who received 1st place for Job Interview, and Dayana Limon Santiago who obtained 3rd place for Job Interview. Our very own Jalie Grundt, Henry Marin Acosta, and Dayana Limon Santiago will be moving on to regionals hosted on February 18th. Wasco FFA would like to congratulate all of the participants for their courage and diligent work as well as thank our guests and assisting members. Our chapter looks forward to accomplishing more shortly!

Members and guests at 8:30 am.
